چکیده

Notions of passivity for a class of switched control systems (SCS) are developed first in this article. We then study the following problems: 1) When is an SCS passive? 2) Does passivity imply Lyapunov stability as in the classical passive systems? 3) How to use passivity as a tool to design controllers to stabilize an SCS? For Problem 1), we derive sufficient conditions for passivity. For problem 2), we show that passivity does imply Lyapunov stability when u = 0, and the stability result obtained from positive semidefinite storage functions is new in switching systems. For the last problem, we first show that by designing the control law properly other than u = 0, stronger stability results can be obtained for a passive SCS. Then, based on this, we solve the stabilization problem of an SCS by making it passive first and then designing the control law for the passified SCS. Examples and simulations are given to support our results. Copyright @ 2005 IFAC

Energy-Based Adaptive Sliding Mode Speed Control for Switched Reluctance Motor Drive

Torque ripple minimization of switched reluctance motor drives is a major subject based on these drives’ extensive use in the industry. In this paper, by using a well-known cascaded torque control structure and taking the machine physical structure characteristics into account, the proposed energy-based (passivity-based) adaptive sliding algorithm derived from the view point of energy dissipati...

In this paper, a novel approach for control of the DC-DC buck converter in high-power and low-voltage applications is proposed. Designed method is developed according to passivity based controller which is able to stabilize output voltage in a wide range of operation. It is clear that in high-power applications, parasitic elements of the converter may become comparable with load value and hence...

Passivity-Based Stability Analysis and Robust Practical Stabilization of Nonlinear Affine Systems with Non-vanishing Perturbations

This paper presents some analyses about the robust practical stability of a class of nonlinear affine systems in the presence of non-vanishing perturbations based on the passivity concept. The given analyses confirm the robust passivity property of the perturbed nonlinear systems in a certain region. Moreover, robust control laws are designed to guarantee the practical stability of the perturbe...

Passivity Index for Switched System Design

This paper presents a framework for control design of general nonlinear switched systems using passivity and two passivity indexes. Background material will be presented on traditional passivity for continuously varying systems, the concept of a passivity index, and passivity theory for switched systems. The passivity index concept will then be generalized to apply to switched systems to measur...
